Owl always love you - from Sue Roddis

I just had to share this gorgeous piece of artwork with you. My very good friend Sue Roddis has been playing around with some Andy Skinner stencils and embossing paste and just look at the results!
Sue has used a combination of stencils to create her background, Tornado and Code Breaker, these have been used 'flat' as it were to give interest behind the owls. Sue uses DecoArt paints, rich and highly pigmented colours which when used sparingly give a soft translucent effect.

To add texture and depth to her work Sue has used a Texture Paste through the Owl stencil. Once dry the paste can be coloured with the paints, as Sue has done, or if you wanted a single colour, you can add Americana or Traditions paints to the Texture Paste to colour it before  you apply it.

These Owls really pop off the background now..........

The paints Sue has used are DecoArt Traditions in Quinacridone Burnt Orange, Quinacridone Violet, Transparent Red Oxide, Transparent Yellow Oxide, Aquamarine and a touch of Warm White. The stencils are by Andy Skinner and are Tornado, Owls and Code Breaker. The texture paste is DecoArt Molding Paste.
Thank you for letting me share your wonderful art Sue x

Glad you liked it enough to share it Wendy:) It was fun to make.....Andys stencils are perfect for texture paste as they are a little thicker so give that much more height.
