Messing about................

Hi, not often I get a chance to mess about but this afternoon I made some time. I was making some Christmas cards and went looking for a punch and came across a package of bits from last year when Ruby came over to play at our craft club. I never finished my project so thought.............now is the time!
Ruby demonstrated covering wooden pegs to create lovely gifts for friends. So I set about making a set......

You need wooden pegs, patterned Christmas papers, sanding block, distress ink, gold dabber, cosmic shimmer glue, stickles, oddments of ribbon, buttons, twine, manilla tag, alterations tattered pinecone die, snowflake punch.
You need to take your pegs apart for this, mind your fingers. Glue the pegs side by side, on their backs, on a piece of patterned paper using Cosmic Shimmer Glue, it really sticks to the wood well. Cut around the pegs. Sand the edges and distress them using Vintage Photo ink and a blending tool. Reassemble the pegs, again minding your fingers. Add ribbons, buttons twine etc. to decorate each peg. I put a little glitter glue on my finger and rubbed it over the empty spots to create some shimmer.

Adhere a piece of patterned paper to the tag but leave the ends free. Edge the card and tag with a gold dabber. Cut a Pinecone from the die (there is a tutorial on how to make them up on the website). Adhere to the bottom corner of the tag and again smear over a little glitter glue. Add a wide ribbon to the tag. Arrange the pegs along the tag.

I added some punched snowflakes for a bit of a 3D effect.
Simple as that...........thanks Ruby for the idea. It just goes to show, its worth keeping ALL the bits!!
