Monday magic.............

Most Mondays are pretty routine at my place but this week........well, look who came to play!!
One evening last week Sue and I watched a Ustream from Prima Live featuring Anna Dabrowska also known as Finnabair. A very funny and entertaining two hours but full of some lovely ideas and techniques too! Here is the link if you want to watch, be warned though, its two hours long........
So as Sue was coming to stay this week we decided on a play day in the workshop to try out some of the ideas we had seen.............with our own personal touch too. So, having emptied the cupboards of all we could find LOL and Sue's treasure box, we got started.
The basic idea is to build your piece first, no colour apart from that which is already on either your papers or trinkets. Depth is what we are aiming for here..............
Sue cut a huge pile of bits and bobs with some Tim Holtz dies using scraps from the bin, old cardboard, papers and suchlike..........
This is the bottom corner of my tag, depth achieved by using the wicker heart and attaching with hair pins........I added some of our new lace along the bottom edge, it used to be white LOL.
You can see the height here a little better.............
Once all the pieces were attached you add the colour, its really scary, your whole piece is suddenly zapped with sprays, you just have to be brave and go for it........
This is the top of the tag, lots of layers of die cut flowers out of card and paper, some metal pieces from Vintaj, a bird from Sue's treasure box and yes, those are ring pulls from our cans of diet coke!!
Again, here is the depth ..............
The Dylusions ink sprays I used were Marble Black and Lemonade..........black was even scarier, but it really works wonderfully and tones down the bright yellow perfectly.
And here is the finished piece.........some Distress Stains to colour the lace, lots of mini mister water spraying to tone and wash the colour out................Dylusions Inks Sprays, a Paper Distresser to roughen up the edges............
and in case you were wondering..............here is Sue's.......you can see more of hers and how she made it on her blog here
Great fun, I will be doing some more of these...............and thanks Sue for a fun day.
Tomorrow, Oxford city for some Alice, Museums, food and the theatre.........

Gorgeous tags ladies, love love the dimension and the idea of adding colour after adding all the elements to the tag. Love that they are both so unique and I love your use of found bits and pieces like the ring pulls and Sue's bits from the bin. A great way to spend a day and great results too. Enjoy your day tomorrow. Tracy x

Fantastic, Wendy! You should make time to play more often.... this is absolutely gorgeous. Several of the twitter folk I met at the Craft Barn's Extravanganza day (sorry!!) on Saturday had seen this stream, and said how great it was. Now the footie has finished I may have a couple of hours spare to watch it one day!

I have been waiting for a spare two hours to watch this vid. (hmmm, 4am methinks!!) as Anna is a genius. Having seen what you have created here you've made that a priority this week. Thanks for sharing - so inspiring. Hugs, Buttons x
