Ticket to ride...........

and all for $1.50!!
Today Sue and I decided to spend our free day doing a bit of exploring so we headed for the LA equivilent of the London Underground - the Metro. Believe me there is no comparison, the Metro is amazing. We got our tickets and after 3 short stops arrived at Union Station.
This is the station waiting room!! Just look at those seats, its more like a posh hotel. This is the ceiling.........
We were heading for El Pueblo De Los Angeles, the original site of the first settlement that became Los Angeles founded in 1781 (Sue has more of the history of this place over on her blog).
This is the street we crossed from the station - amazing patterns
Oranges on the trees, quite a sight really, and the smell of the orange blossom was mesmerising.........
oh and lemons!
Olvera Street was full of market stalls selling all sorts of Mexican goods, I bought some silver earrings and just missed a beautiful leather handbag, should have been quicker LOL
Lunch in the Mexican restaurant, refried beans, cheese stuffed chilli peppers and rice, very nice it was too.
A little further out by foot is Chinatown so we went to have look there too. Lots of shops selling lanterns, papers, live crabs and lobsters............hmmmmm
again the decorative roadways...........
and you can just make it out in this hastily taken photo, even the street signs have Chinese on them too.
Finally, I thought you might like this for a laugh
