AWOL

Just in case you were wondering where I had got to.......................I went AWOL for a few days. Last week is the most stressful week I think I have ever experienced and my DH whisked me away for a short break before I imploded LOL. More of that in a later. The week started off very nicely actually, Sarah Anderson was here for her 'stuff' workshop. The ladies were making covers for journals but ended up making frames, boxes and in the case of Sylvia complete doors! Here they are ready to roll..........
In you go ladies.........have fun
Joan is using the new Eco Paints, very highly pigmented paints which go on like a dream........she is trying out the Vaseline technique.
Sylvia's bird and quite large backing piece............
Lou is also playing with the paints, finger painting! See those Gadget Gears Die Cuts, add a little Ferro and they became amazing rusty 'bits' to add to the work.
This is Joanna's finished cover, how great does that look? A mix of Viva Decor Terra, Ferro and Metal Colour, with some TSS metal that has been through the Big Shot. Add Eco Paint and some bits from an Alterations Die Gadget Gears and you are there..........amazing work.
Proud Sylvia and her Door. She very cleverly added her wood frame to her background sheet, used the Alterations Die to cut the hinges and keyhole and even added the Caged Bird for an authentic cottage style.
Laura with her finished pieces............
Ah, finger painting was never that brilliant when I was a kid........nice work Lou.
and nice work Lou's mum too!!
Can you spot the rubble in the background? The source of my week of stress.............check these two out. Ever heard that song 'Right Said Fred'..........
Right said Fred, both of us together
one on each side steady as we go
tried to shift it, couldn't even lift it
we was getting nowhere
so we had a cuppa tea and........
right said Fred, give a shout for Charlie
up comes Charlie from the floor below
after straining, heaving and complaining
we was getting nowhere
so we had a cuppa tea and............
right said fred, gotta take the wall down
that there wall is gunna have to go.............
of for goodness sake.........give me that hammer............
and half a ton of rubble later.............final piece comes out...........
Three shops are now finally one! and its huge, huger than I thought it was going to be.......still got a way to go, painting, steps from one shop to the other, slat to go up, loo to finish and kitchen to put in, flooring to go down......if you come visit bring your old clothes and a paintbrush. I will get some more pics for you soon so you can see just how huge this really is now...........I sure needed my weekend away, and more of that soon too.........keep your eyes wide for Mrs Roddis's DT coming soon and more from Rachel Jackson too.

Wendy, it certainly sounds as though you needed a weekend away!! Good luck with the rest of the work.
The ladies in Sarah's class certainly produced some great work.

Hope you enjoyed your weekend away and got the break you needed. It will all be worth it in the end, it never feels like it whilst all the building work is going on. Everyone looks like they had a fab time on Sarah's class and produced some great art too. Tracy x

Everybody is definitely having a great time. Poor you, stress in abundance, but in the long run am sure it will be definitely worth it. Annette x

Hope you enjoyed your break - you deserved it after all that stress - it'll be worth it in the end though, the shop will be a fantastic place when it's finished (not that it isn't already!!)
The workshop was great fun - Lou was glad I paid for her to come (what else are Mum's for?!) - my credit card wasn't though.
Not done much since the workshop but have tried out the vaselne technique again - it's very effective. (we spotted the second photo is me not Joan!)
Looking forward to the next workshop and seeing the altered shop (when the credit card has recovered!!)
Hope you're still chilled from your break.
Hugs
Caz
